Allingawier (Wûnseradiel municipality, 80 inhabitants) The small "terp" village of Allingawier can be found in sources as early as 1270 under the name of Alingwere. In earlier times, when fishing was very important, Allingawier was built on a spit of land surrounded by lakes, pools and puddles. Between 1876 and 1879 the Makkumermeer and Parregastermeer lakes were reclaimed and as a result Allingawier came to stand in the middle of low-lying meadows. The village consists of small town houses, farms and a number of sheds and barns. The church dates from 1634. The Dutch Reformed Church built its own church at the southern edge of the village in 1893. This building is now the Reception Centre for visitors to the historic 'Aldfaers Erf' Route. This route includes the 'De Izeren Kou' museum farm, the 'drabbelkoek' (Frisian caramel cake) bakery and coffee shop, the smithy, the artist's studio and the day-labourer's house.
