Aldemardum - Oudemirdum (Gaasterlân-Sleat municipality, 1,359 inhabitants) The 'brinkdorp' (village with village green) of Oudemirdum is something of an odd-one-out. Its village green is very reminiscent of Drente. The 'brinkdorp' is noted for its peaceful atmosphere, and the village green is the friendly hub of the village as well as the location of the Mar and Klif information centre. Mar en Klif provides information about the unique nature and culture of the national landscape of south-west Friesland - and Gaasterland in particular - in a very attractive manner: a permanent exhibition evocatively informs visitors about the elements of the landscape, with its forests, waters and meadows. The country house to the east of the village, 'Rinia State', is an eye-catching stately home dating from 1843. The Reformed Church with its stained-glass dating from 1700 and the 'Oudermirdummer klif' (cliffs) are also well worth a visit.
