Windmills circuit - Sneek - 65 km

Sneek - Langweer - Woudsend - Oudega - Heeg - IJlst - Sneek

There were 2,400 windmills in Friesland 150 years ago, of which only 124 remain today. These routes will take you past a number of the remaining windmills. The ‘Molen’, or Mills, route starts and finishes in the historic town of Sneek.

1. 1. Start alongside the -Houkesloot- in -Sneek-
2. 2. 1. Navigate towards -Sneekermeer- over the -Houkesloot- till -het Kruiswater-
3. 3. 2. Turn right onto the -Nieuwe Wijmerts- and stay on it till -end-
4. 4. 3. Turn left into the -Hollegracht-
5. 5. 4. Turn right onto the -Langestaartenpoel-
6. 6. 5. Navigate diagonal across the -langestaartenpoel- and sail towards the -Jentjemeer-
7. 7. 6. Navigate diagonal across the -Jentjemeer- and sail towards the -Fammensrakken-
8. 8. 7. Cross the -De Brekken- to the left and sail into the -Kraai-
9. 9. 8. Stay on the -De Kaai- till the - Langweerderwielen-
10. 10. 9. Cross the -Langweerderwielen- and sail towards -Langweer-
11. 11. 10. Cross the -Langweerderwielen- to the left and sail into the -Janesloot-
12. 12. 11. Cross the -Koevorde- to the right and sail onto the -Prinsesmargriet kanaal-
13. 13. 12. Turn left onto the -Johan Friso Kanaal-
14. 14. 13. Turn left onto the -Nieuwe Wijmerts- and stay on it till -Noorder Ee-
15. 15. 14. Cross the -Noorder Ee- to the right and sail into the -Woudsender Rakken-
16. 16. 15. Cross the -Heegermeer- to the right and sail into the -Inthiemasloot-
17. 17. 16. Cross the -Groote Gaastmeer- and sail towards the -Zandmeer-
18. 18. 17. Cross the -Zandmeer- and sail towards the -Korte Vliet-
19. 19. 18. Cross the -Zandige Grons- onto -Grons-
20. 20. 19. Navigate diagonal across the -Vlakke Brekken- and sail towards the -Oudegaasterbrekken-
21. 21. 20. Cross the -Oudegaasterbrekken-
22. 22. Navigate towards the -Zandige Grons-
23. 23. 21. Turn left onto the -Zandmeer- and stay on it till the -Grote Gaastmeer-
24. 24. 22. Navigate through -Inthiemasloot- and turn left onto the -Fluessen-
25. 25. 23. Cross the -Fluessen- to the right and sail into the - Johan Friso kanaal-
26. 26. 24. Turn left into the -Wijde Wijmerts- and stay on it till -IJlst-
27. 27. 25. Turn right into the -Draai-
28. 28. 26. After you have passed under the bridge, go straight onto the -Geeuw-
29. 29. 27. Stay on the -waterweg-
30. 30. 28. Turn right in the bend, under the bridge, onto the -Prinsengracht-
31. 31. Stay on this waterway till you arrive at the starting point of the navigational route
